Message from FC Elect Greg Baker:

Following is excerpt from message sent from Greg:

1. Flotilla 25-03, the Laurel Flotilla, will meet at 1900 hours (7 p.m.) on December 10, 2009, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Laurel, Maryland.

Agenda items I would like to discuss include:

a. Staff Appointments for 2010: There will need to be some adjustments because of people's workloads In Real Life.
b. Holiday Party?
c. Planning for 2010 Activities

Please tell me, Tom, and John Garpstas if you can attend.

If you can't attend, please let me know, so I can keep you updated.

2. I spoke to Lieutenant Isaac Colon of the Sea Cadets last night by telephone. He expects 20 students for the class, but asks we bring a few extra books in case. He is aware of the cost, which we tentatively set at $20/student, and agrees with the schedule as planned.

3. I am going to try to move the Leadership Seminars to a place more central to our Division than Laurel, because of the interest therein.

I appreciate all the support, guidance, and corrections you have provided me so far. Gary was right when he called the job "Chief Cat Herder" - but we have some really talented cats in this herd!

Coast Guard in Alaska

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Please see the below I found on the Commandants ICommandants web blog. Pertains to the Auxiliary.

Commandant’s SITREP # 1 – May 25, 2006

A special message to our Coast Guard Auxiliary Members: As the finest all-volunteer organizationin our Nation, I consider each of you an integral part of our Coast Guard. We simply could not meet thechallenges we face or conduct the missions we do on a day-to-day basis without your selfless devotion toduty, as was so vividly demonstrated most recently in the Coast Guard’s extraordinary response to the many hurricanes we responded to last year. I sent the following letter to our Coast Guard men andwomen upon assuming the duties of Commandant. My priorities and dedication outlined in the letterbelow apply equally to each of you as they do to our workforce. I pledge to you my relentless supportfor our Auxiliary and will rely upon your continued service to our Nation as we work together to remain Semper Paratus.

A Few More From the First Division 25 COW

Captain Jim Montgomery Director Auxiliary 8th District and a friend to those of us in Division 2 MC'd the "show".  We also had the privilege of having Captain Kelly Commanding Officier of Sector Baltimore, and Commander Engles Director of Auxilary 5th Southern,  both of who gave praise to the outstanding job the Divisions 2 and 14 have done in the last year.
Russell Magnuson Commander of the New Division 25
encouraged  those present to   keep up the  enthusiasm.
He asked that we encouraged  us  to engage all our fellow
members and encourage them to
 participate.

For those of you who did not make it.

January 17, 2009 the COW with the Chartering of the New Division 25 from Division 2 and 14 occurred at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington Virginia.  The Food and Fellowship where outstanding.  A number of members from 25-03 received recognition for there hard work over the past year. We all look forward to the upcoming year. Bravo Zulu to all.
